White kitchens may be “in” but, if you have the room, a dark cooking area can be just as inspiring! We’ve recently told you of stylish moody kitchens that are in trend now, and today we are going to share one more dark eye-candy of these. With almost every element expressed in a deep grey, the Vipp Kitchen is a perfect example of moody monochromaticism. Vipp produces laconic metal kitchens, and this is one of them, with black cabinets and appliances. Similar to white, the foggy grey serves as a canvas for other fixtures and accents like live herbs or the stainless steel washbasin. There’s a large concrete window sill that is used for storage and may be used for sitting, too. Bertoia-style chairs with full grain leather, natural stone and a fireplace focal point give this alternative kitchen and dining area a masculine edge. A large artwork piece on the wall is also done in dark colors, and a love letter chandelier over the dining zone make it more cheerful.
White is a perfect timeless color, which will always be in trend, plus if we speak about decor, it has several advantages: it makes any space look bigger, it goes well with almost any color and creates an airy feeling in the interior. White is often used for public areas in homes – kitchens or bathrooms, and it’s not surprising because these places should look bigger and lighter as we use them very often. Today I’d like to inspire you with all-white kitchen designs and ways to create them so that they looked cool and eye-catchy, not boring. I’m sure you’ll love these ideas and steal some for yourself. Which style do you prefer? Vintage or rustic? Minimalist or mid-century modern? White will be nice for absolutely any decor style, it’s always gorgeous. Rock cabinets exactly in this style, don’t be afraid to choose large and tall ones, they will look airy enough due to the color. If you have really a small kitchen, you should choose white for it – it will seem bigger and airier, even if it’s very narrow and long. Add skylights or more windows to fill the space with light and make it seem even bigger. A new and hot trend is a window backsplash, which brings much light in and looks very eye-catchy and unusual – if there are gorgeous views, it’s a super cool idea!
Two-toned kitchens used to be popular somewhere long ago, and they are making a huge comeback now. This is a stylish way to incorporate colors you like into your kitchen decor, besides making the upper cabinets light and the lower ones dark will give an ethereal and lightweight look to your space. There are a lot of different styles and color combos to choose from, let’s have a look at the finest ideas to try. Such kitchens are created to play with colors and contrasts, so don’t hesitate to choose the colors you like! Red and white, navy and white, emerald and gold, grey and white, black and white – there are thousands of combos to try! I’d say that the most popular combo is white and some shade of grey – if grey is dark, you’ll get a cool contrast, if grey is light – you’ll get an ethereal space. accessorize your kitchen according to the style you’ve chosen – if it’s a modern space, use no knobs or handles and keep the cabinets sleek, if it’s a mid-century modern space, a cool geometric backsplash is your thing and of course metallic details will fit any style and color – what a great idea to add chic to the kitchen!
As the kitchen is very spacious, there are several zones: a cooking one, an eating one and an office. The light and airy feeling in the kitchen is highlighted by the mint green color of the cabinets paired with that gorgeous encaustic tile floor and brass accents. I love the transition between the floors: tiles and warm wood, and there’s a jute rug on the tiles to connect these two. The L-shaped kitchen island doubles as a dining table; a range of industrial stools creates comfortable seating. A comfy home office nook in the corner also has a lot of cabinets and a working tabletop, this isn’t a real home office but a comfy nook for writing and filling in the documents.
If you are getting ready for a kitchen renovation, this one can be a great source of inspiration for you. This moody space was renovated by New York-based interior designer Monique Gibson and shows the finest example of decorating a kitchen in a fashionable moody way, which is extremely popular today. The space is decorated in industrial meets vintage style, and what I love most of all is the contrast between the whitewashed brick walls and black furniture and ceiling beams. The floors are also whitewashed but wooden ones. Choosing white as the main color, the designer still kept the space moody with black framed windows and a door and dark countertops and furniture. The shelves are warm wood ones, and the furniture is put on metal legs and casters to make it look vintage and make it durable and stable. Vintage wooden tableware and dishes stick to the style of the kitchen, and there are some plants and greenery that enliven it. If you, guys, like trendy moody spaces, I’m sure you’ll love this one, too! It is full of gorgeous ideas to steal, get your Pin button ready!
