It’s time to head back-to-school (where did summer go?!), and whether you’re moving into a dorm, an apartment, or helping to get your kids settled in one of the above – small spaces require some inventive solutions. As Target’s home organizing expert’s we wanted to put together some easy-to-implement ideas for getting organized when storage and space is limited. By adding a few smart products, you’ll have room for all your items and not have to live with clutter! Hopefully that’s not your roommate’s name.
If you like mid-century modern interiors with a Riviera feel, today’s home is sure to excite and inspire you. This is a large apartment in Monaco full of bright colors and iconic pieces, let’s dive in! The design is punctuated with touches of bright colour, printed wallpapers influenced by plants and breath-taking exterior views out over the Mediterranean. From the Art Deco styled lobby complete with red terrazzo flooring and smartly dressed members of staff the private elevators bring you into the apartment with a beautiful collection of mirrors to greet everyone. Some spaces include innovative furniture and objects, however these contemporary pieces fill the room naturally, with grace and pure harmony.
Small apartments are often called uncomfortable and sometimes unlivable as there’s not enough space for storing things and for everything you wanna place here. I think living in really a small dwelling is art, and let’s take a look at a good example how to pull it all off.
Each apartment houses everything necessary for everyday life – a bed, a kitchenette, living-room area and even a bath – all in their minimized versions, but still comfortable to use. Different areas are divided by ‘transformer’ furniture, including a bed that opens a walk-in wardrobe when lifted, and a dining table/desk that can be easily turned into a coffee table if flipped on a side. The kitchen is done with comfy cabinets, there’s a small living space with a coffee table and a sofa plus a little working space in the corner. Then you may see a ladder with drawers for storage and a bathroom in a block. The location of these parts is a bit different from apartment to apartment.
Tiny apartments are amazingly cozy but they have one biggest problem – managing to fit all the furniture they need inside the house. Thousands of designers create thousands of space-saving furniture, different solutions and ideas to contain everything the owner needs. The owner of this small apartment found a very creative solution: he made a cube that includes a shelf for his vinyl collection, space for the TV and storage for clothes and shoes. The TV has its own designated space on one side of the cube while adjacent to it there’s storage for clothes and shoes underneath. Around the TV there are shelves and compartments for books and for the owner’s collection. On top of this compact structure there is also a guest bed. A door found next to the ladder lets you inside the cube where you find even more storage space. Unbelievable!
